Run in a terminal. This assumes the file is in Downloads; use its actual path if you saved it elsewhere. Keep the terminal open during setup.
Why a local launcher?
Your browser cannot configure a project on its own. This launcher opens the connection window on your machine and applies only the integrations you choose. This release uses Node; a native desktop installer is not available yet.

In the setup window, browse to your project and choose:
Connect installs and checks the project integration. Your account sign-in stays in your coding app. Alongside does not collect passwords, record sessions, or upload your work.

Right where you work.
Once connected, use Start in Codex or Start in Claude Code to open a fresh terminal session. Using an app or IDE? Open the same project and use the first message supplied in setup.
Direct launch requires the agent’s CLI. Eight starter cards install locally; the credited catalogue — prompts, debugging, verification, context, reusable skills, tool choices and, for apps that call a model API, caching, batching and evals — is served from Alongside one card at a time and never downloaded. The companion sends only the signal, a few topic words and counts, never your code or conversation; it can be switched fully local. Alongside retrieves a relevant card when your agent observes a problem. Your agent’s usual usage applies. Coaching runs in your agent’s conversation; the setup window is not a background monitor.
Advanced: command-line installation and controls
Download the launcher, then run from your project folder:
node /path/to/install-alongside.mjs --agent both --project .
Use codex or claude instead of both for one agent. Add --dry-run to preview, --check to verify local files, or --uninstall to remove the integrations while keeping private notes. You can ask your agent to pause or resume Alongside.
